Job Title: Field Service Technician

Location: Minnesota

Salary: $38 - $46 per hour

The Field Service Technician is responsible for performing a variety of routine field service activities on manual milling machines, CNC milling machines, lathes, saws, grinding, and metrology equipment. This role involves installation, periodic maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and repair of technical, mechanical, and electrical equipment failures in the field. The technician follows standard procedures to diagnose and resolve machine issues and reports any design, reliability, or maintenance problems through field service management software.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair milling machines (manual & CNC), lathes, saws, grinding, and metrology machines at service centers or customer sites.
  • Complete all required service work reports, time sheets, and other documentation as directed by the Field Service Manager.
  • Ensure all required training and certifications are kept up to date.
  • Maintain specified spare parts stock levels in the service van and ensure the van is kept in a presentable condition.

Education and Experience:

  • Must reside in MN, WI, or IA.
  • Associate degree or equivalent from a college or technical school; 2 years of relevant experience and training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 0-5 years of experience in a related field.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Moderate product knowledge, preferably gained through hands-on experience.
  • Basic mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of machining, milling, and metrology.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics, and ladder logic.
  • Experience using basic electrical testing and diagnostic equipment, with a basic understanding of AC/DC electrical theory and precision measuring instruments.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and business applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, respond to feedback, and voice concerns constructively.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to safety and fosters a safe working environment.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Follows all company policies and procedures.
