Location: New York

Position Overview
A dynamic, enthusiastic, and experienced Capital Equipment Outside Sales Engineer is being sought to join the team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in capital equipment sales, preferably with experience in the sheet metal machinery industry. This role requires a highly organized individual who is independent and possesses a “hunter” mindset. Extensive travel to meet with clients and prospects will be necessary. The position combines technical expertise, sales acumen, and a passion for exceeding customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities
The Sales Engineer will play a crucial role in the organized development of the assigned sales territory. The position will focus on acquiring and developing new customers and markets while nurturing repeat sales to existing customers.

Sales & Business Development

  • Identify and target new business opportunities within the assigned territory through cold calls, inbound leads, and external marketing initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Conduct product presentations and demonstrations for prospective clients.
  • Collaborate with the National Sales Manager to negotiate and close sales orders, ensuring profitable outcomes for the company.
  • Travel extensively within the assigned territory to meet clients, attend industry events, and participate in trade shows.
  • International travel to the company’s head office in Belgium may be required for events and customer presentations.

Technical Expertise

  • Understand customer requirements through in-person site visits and follow-up meetings with internal Product Managers to define customer-specific solutions.
  • Skilled in identifying customer needs and recommending appropriate equipment solutions.
  • Knowledge and experience with various types of capital equipment, including but not limited to CNC laser cutting machines, press brakes, punch presses, shearing machines, and automated material handling systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to address customer requirements and resolve issues.

Qualifications

  • A two-year degree is required; a four-year degree in engineering, business, or a technical discipline is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in capital equipment sales or a related industry is necessary.
  • Preferred experience in sheet metal machinery.
  • A proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong technical knowledge of capital equipment, with the ability and desire to learn and adapt quickly to new technologies.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-up.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively (up to 75% of the time).
  • Knowledge of the territory regarding geography, industry, and prospective clients within it.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
