Job Description: Senior Manager, Quality

Position: Senior Manager, Quality
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Location: Greater Indianapolis, On-site

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Manager, Quality to lead our Quality Management function within an advanced additive manufacturing environment. This role is critical in ensuring that our products, processes, and systems meet the highest standards of quality and compliance. The successful candidate will establish and oversee our quality systems, manage inspections, develop and maintain the quality lab, and guide the organization toward achieving and sustaining ISO 9001, AS9100, and other relevant certifications.

As a hands-on leader, this individual will be both strategic and tactical—building processes from the ground up, auditing compliance, and instilling a culture of quality across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Management System (QMS) Development & Oversight

  • Establish, implement, and maintain a QMS compliant with ISO 9001, AS9100, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Serve as the internal auditor and management representative for all certification activities.
  • Develop and document policies, procedures, and work instructions to ensure consistent compliance.

Inspection & Quality Lab Management

  • Set up and maintain a state-of-the-art quality lab for additive manufacturing, including inspection and testing equipment.
  • Lead inspection activities for incoming materials, in-process production, and final product verification.
  • Develop and implement metrology methods and best practices.

Process Control & Continuous Improvement

  • Define and enforce quality standards across production processes, with a focus on additive manufacturing technologies.
  • Monitor KPIs, analyze nonconformities, and drive root cause corrective actions (RCCA).
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.

Compliance & Certification

  • Drive successful achievement of ISO 9001, AS9100, and industry/customer quality certifications.
  • Act as the primary contact for external auditors, customers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Stay abreast of evolving aerospace, defense, and additive manufacturing quality standards.

Leadership & Training

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the quality team.
  • Train cross-functional teams on quality procedures, compliance requirements, and best practices.
  • Build strong partnerships with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to ensure quality is embedded throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or related technical field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum 7+ years of quality management experience, with at least 3+ years in aerospace/defense or additive manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, and NADCAP (a plus).
  • Proven experience leading certification efforts and internal/external audits.
  • Hands-on experience establishing and managing inspection labs and metrology systems.
  • Expertise in additive manufacturing processes (metal and/or polymer) highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Certifications such as ASQ CQE, CQA, or Six Sigma strongly preferred.
