Job Title: Advanced Engineer
Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Salary: $150k
The Advanced Engineer, Electrical plays a key role in advancing electrical systems for generator technology within the R&D division in Cincinnati, Ohio. This position is responsible for contributing to the design of electronics, wire harnesses, industrial control panels, and high-voltage system designs.
Duties and Responsibilities

Design and develop electrical sub-systems and components for innovative generator technologies.

Develop and implement advanced power electronics circuits to support generator systems.

Provide hands-on support of system prototypes in a lab environment.

Create detailed designs of electrical schematics, wiring harnesses, custom circuit hardware, and control modules.

Identify and collaborate with strategic suppliers to support component design and procurement.

Develop APQP materials including FMEAs and DVP&Rs.

Build and support prototype development, including system integration and troubleshooting.

Create cost models and lead cost-reduction initiatives.

Ensure compliance with safety and material requirements for electrical system components in both demonstrator and commercial applications.

Perform analysis, design, simulation, and testing of electronic circuits.

Support mechanical packaging and system design to meet electrical and thermal requirements.

Work independently with limited supervision to evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, adapting and modifying as needed.

Perform additional duties as assigned to support business needs.
Education, Experience, and Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

5+ years of experience in a regulated design environment.
Skills and Abilities
-
Proficiency in designing electrification systems including batteries, motors, inverters, PDUs, and embedded controllers, with a strong focus on high-voltage safety protocols.

Expertise in power subsystem design (AC/DC, DC/DC, DC/AC, EMI, harmonic control, and magnetics).

Skilled in electrical modeling and simulation using MATLAB-Simulink, PSPICE, or LTSPICE.

Familiarity with packaging electronic components and interpreting electrical manufacturing documentation.

Strong capabilities in designing and troubleshooting complex electrical sensors and controls.

Experience with circuit/schematic and PCB design tools such as Altium Designer, and wire harness design using 2D CAD tools like AutoCAD or Zuken Harness Builder.

Knowledge of electromagnetic compatibility, compliance requirements, and industry standards.

Proven experience in high-volume manufacturing of electrical systems, with emphasis on cost efficiency, manufacturability, serviceability, and durability.

Proficiency in communication network design and implementation (CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C).

Familiarity with ISO 26262, UL standards, and MIL specifications.
