Job Title: Model Maker
Location: Pennsylvania, USA
Salary: $100k
The Model Maker, Additive Manufacturing is responsible for the fabrication of prototypes within the organization’s Additive Manufacturing portfolio to support product development. This role involves hands-on participation in all stages of the additive manufacturing process — from concept and design through prototyping, testing, verification, and product introduction. The Model Maker also maintains additive manufacturing systems, ensuring proper calibration, scheduled maintenance, and reliable operation.
Essential Functions

Safely handle powder feedstock materials and adhere to all safety protocols.

Set up and operate a variety of 3D additive manufacturing machines.

Perform post-printing processes, including powder removal, finishing, and part inspection.

Follow all established standard operating procedures with precision and consistency.

Continuously improve existing procedures to optimize safety, quality, and efficiency.

Maintain accurate and organized records and documentation throughout all stages of production.

Ensure all machines and measurement tools are properly calibrated and maintained in compliance with quality standards.

Perform regular maintenance and service activities to keep machines running smoothly and minimize downtime.

Maintain a clean and organized workspace, supporting a culture of operational excellence.

Collaborate in process development activities to enhance manufacturing methods and outcomes.

Uphold ethical business conduct and compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of experience in additive manufacturing.

Experience with 3D Systems additive manufacturing machines preferred.

Background in machining or model making, ideally within the medical device or precision manufacturing industries, is a plus.

Proficiency with CNC and manual mills, lathes, and EDM machines is advantageous.

Familiarity with software such as Creo, Magics, 3D Expert, or Mastercam is beneficial.

Associate’s degree in Additive Manufacturing or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with relevant coursework preferred.

Demonstrated creativity and problem-solving ability in design and process improvement.

Self-starter capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

Skilled at managing multiple projects effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative.

Competent with standard computer applications (Microsoft Office, Windows, Email).

Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods, including helmet, respirator, and heat shroud.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Demands
