Job Title: Service Engineer
Location: Illinois, USA
Salary: $100k

The Service Engineer is responsible for providing on-site or remote maintenance and repair support for CNC machine tools. This role demands a high level of technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and customer service skills. Travel to client locations is frequent, and responsibilities often include training and collaboration with customer-side engineers.

  • Deliver maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation support for CNC machine tools either at customer locations or remotely.

  • Create, update, and maintain accurate documentation of technical service information.

  • Develop and analyze both regular and ad hoc service reports to support operational efficiency.

  • Collaborate with customer service teams and work in tandem with client-side service engineers.

  • Provide training and technical support for the installation and maintenance of newer machine tool models.

  • Foster strong communication and customer service relationships with clients.

  • Manage challenging customer situations with professionalism; respond promptly to client needs and actively seek feedback to improve service.

  • Perform additional duties as required by the role.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline preferred.

  • A minimum of five years of hands-on experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and maintenance of CNC machine tools.

  • Experience with machine tools from brands such as DMG, Mori Seiki, or with controls such as Fanuc, Mitsubishi, or Siemens is highly desirable.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a commitment to excellent customer service.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with personnel at all organizational levels, both in person and by phone.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and PLC ladder diagrams.

  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, handle frequent changes or delays, and manage competing demands in a dynamic work environment.
