Field Service Engineer
About the Company:
Headquartered in Linz, Austria, the organization specializes in the exclusive manufacturing of highly flexible multifunctional CNC milling/turning/boring machines. These advanced machining centers are widely utilized by leading manufacturers in the aerospace, defense, energy, engine, printing, oil/gas, and engineering industries for machining their most challenging components
Required Hard Skills:
- Strong mechanical skills, including hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, and coolant systems.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings, schematics, and diagrams.
- Knowledge in machine control and interface diagnostics.
- Experience with the 840D control system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Majority of the candidate's time will be spent working at customer sites across the U.S., Canada, and occasionally Mexico.
- Provide troubleshooting and repair of mechanical & electrical machine issues in person at customer sites.
- Offer troubleshooting support for machine issues to customers over the phone.
- Analyze complex electrical and mechanical machine components for failure modes.
- Repair and rebuild mechanical assemblies, replace spindle bearings, ball screws, etc.
- Verify, align, and reset machine geometry.
- Resolve electrical and machine controls issues.
- Provide training to customer personnel in machine operation and maintenance tasks.
- Support spare part requests through the Aftermarket Sales Organization.
- Thoroughly document repairs on a service activity report.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent planning skills and efficient time management.
- Ability to request and present information through spoken or written word and communicate effectively with external and internal customers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel).
Experience and Abilities:
- Knowledge and ability to set up and adjust mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Competent understanding of electrical wiring, troubleshooting, and instrumentation.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, as well as electrical and fluid power diagrams.
- Proficiency in navigating through HMI equipment.
- Customer-directed and service-oriented.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Logical and critical thinking ability.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- Valid US passport (required for Government-related facility access).
Educational Requirements:
- Five+ years of work experience servicing CNC machine tools in the field is a necessity.
Language Skills:
- English (verbal and written).
- German or Spanish as a second language is a plus but not mandatory.
