Job Title: Applications Engineer (Robotics)
Location: Greater Manchester
Hours: Full-time, 38 hours per week. Flexible working hours with core hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Thursday, and 8:00 am to 3:00 pm on Friday.
Salary: Competitive, in the region of £40,000, negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

 

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Applications Engineer with a strong background in industrial robotics. This role involves the design, simulation, programming, and commissioning of robotic cells for various industrial applications. The ideal candidate will have a robust track record in delivering projects within timelines and working collaboratively with both internal teams and external partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and simulation of robot cells using 2D and 3D CAD tools.
  • Conducting cell layout, cycle time analysis, and cell simulation.
  • Programming, commissioning, and conducting Factory Acceptance Tests (F.A.T) of robotic systems.
  • Collaborating with internal management, sales teams, integrators, and end-users to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Ensuring all activities comply with health and safety standards.

Requirements:

  • Degree/HND/HNC in Science, Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in industrial robotics, particularly in applications engineering or  systems implementation.
  • Proficiency in robot cell design and experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, CATIA, SolidWorks, Inventor). 
  • Familiarity with robotic simulation software (e.g., DELMIA, Robotexpert/RobCAD, Visual Components) and vendor-specific software (e.g., Robot Studio, Roboguide, KUKA.sim).
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and IT skills, including a strong command of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and in various conditions, including harsh environments and confined spaces.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Desirable:

  • Experience in electrical engineering related to robotics.
  • Knowledge of machine vision systems.
  • Strong understanding of robot and cell safety.
  • Project management skills.
