Job Title: Research and Development Process Engineer

About the Candidate:

Experience: The ideal candidate has significant experience in developing and optimizing new processes in R&D and manufacturing environments. They excel at getting processes operational and driving them toward maximum stability, repeatability, and quality for manufacturing.

Expertise: A strong scientific background with broad knowledge in physics, mechanics, materials, and processes is essential. This enables the candidate to quickly develop, improve, and debug manufacturing processes.

Scientific Methodology: The candidate is committed to the scientific method, capable of designing and executing well-considered experiments to explore hypotheses, and separating out effects of interest on highly multivariate multi-physics systems, utilizing Design of Experiments (DOE) when appropriate.

Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical skills are required, with proficiency in using Excel and/or statistical packages (e.g., JMP or Minitab) to groom data, create meaningful visualizations, separate signal from noise, identify trends, and test hypotheses.

System Intuition: The candidate has an excellent intuition for how complex systems work, can work with materials, processes, and machinery, develop a deep understanding of their operation, and excel at troubleshooting both machines and their operating processes.

Attention to Detail: A keen attention to detail is necessary, along with familiarity with quality systems, reliability testing, and documentation. Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Six Sigma is a plus.

Problem-Solving: The candidate enjoys tackling multidisciplinary problems and working hands-on, both independently and as part of a team, to discover and test solutions for both improvement projects and new R&D initiatives.

Qualifications:
