Customer Innovation Center Supervisor
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Overall responsibility for operation of Rock Hill Customer Innovation Center (CIC) resources, including staff of technical and QA resources. The RH CIC will primarily serve as a “beta” environment where technical teams attempt to solve complicated applications challenges that will convince current and prospective customers of the validity of our 3D printing solutions as scale manufacturing assets. A large focus will be producing benchmark parts from prospective customers with our respective machines and materials in order to showcase our quality as well as technical and economic value. The position calls for a hands-on, involved approach to responsibilities and task execution.
The CIC will also serve as a live showroom for prospective customers and be equipped with 3D printers and applicable post-processing equipment. There will also be selective use of the CIC resources by other personnel for applications research & development and similar purposes. The CIC Manager is expected to effectively coordinate the use of the CIC by different stakeholders.
The RH CIC is primarily dedicated to additive manufacturing using plastic materials (SLA, SLS, MJP, DLP, etc.), for demo and benchmarking purposes. In addition to providing strategic and day-to-day management of the CIC, the CIC Manager is expected to have domain expertise in scale manufacturing and associated quality and other processes to help prospective customers “connect the dots” between the “beta” CIC activity and full scale production environment in their factories. This is a client-facing role with 10 - 20% travel to client sites, and or 3D Systems’ other CIC’s.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
• Develop and implement sound policies, plans, and procedures including, but not limited to, the areas of staffing, capacity planning, resource scheduling, inventory planning, purchasing, manufacturing operations, cost standards, facility safety, equipment maintenance, and product quality.
• Monitor workload and backlog; ensures benchmarking resources are applied properly to support delivery priorities. Monitors actual performance against scheduled performance and seeks to overcome any delays. Regular reporting of global benchmarking activity to stakeholders.
• Interface with sales managers, vertical market leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure that the CIC team meets expectations.
• Partner with other CIC managers to share solutions, ideas and core processes for building out and leveraging the CIC most effectively to meet customer needs. Implement an appropriate QMS to ensure that parts meet necessary quality standards.
• Coordinate and manage administration of CIC resources by different stakeholders and for different purposes.
• Coordinate and manage logistics, quality control, and production of customer benchmark parts and marketing material. Establish programs and sets goals regarding measurement and improvements of operations for assigned areas. Areas include quality, timelines, and cost.
• Create a stimulus for new thinking by showcasing 3DP solutions through, hands-on demonstrations, detailed case-studies, facilitated workshops and training sessions, tailored to our customers’ priorities.
• Ensuring ongoing usage of the CIC and maintain an optimal level of productivity.
• Work with project teams to address specific customer requirements. The CIC is used by product and engineering teams to provide feedback and “voice of the customer” experience to respective teams in order to develop valuable and market relevant products.
• Define requirements and hire talent to carry out our CIC mission, and manage CIC staffing (recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions).
• Expedite the development of the CIC team and ensure their product and customer expertise grows exponentially.
• Identify, select and manage effective relationships with other firms (nearby if possible) for subcontracting certain post-processing activities that will not be performed in-house, and incorporating any outsourced work into the overall solution in order to present an integrated application to prospective customers.
