Job Description

The Parts Group Purchasing Manager provides leadership and direction to achieve daily and long-term operational objectives for procurement operations. This role oversees all aspects of Purchasing, including buyers and supply chain management. The primary focus is on ensuring overall on-time delivery of parts, managing parts cost, and negotiating with suppliers to meet business needs and delivery requirements. The manager is responsible for the daily supervision of associates to meet business plan goals.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Purchasing Management, including POs, schedules, decision-making, direction-setting, and contracts.
  • Utilization of ERP software (IFS) for work, orders, POs, and approvals.
  • Business planning, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Training, recruiting, mentoring, and development.

 

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills: Minimum Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or engineering (MBA preferred).
  •  

Minimum Experience:

  • 10+ years of purchasing experience (manufacturing/aerospace preferred).
  •  

Other Job-Specific Skills:

  • Distressed supplier management with the ability to manage on-time delivery.
  • Directing and coordinating the activities of associates engaged in the procurement of jet engine parts.
  • Preparation and achievement of department goals and objectives.
  • Understanding manufacturing requirements, approving schedules, and establishing work priorities to meet operational goals.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work within an international environment.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to develop strategic plans, coordinate projects, and communicate changes and progress.
  • Proficiency in using computer-based software, manufacturing execution, and warehouse management systems.
  • Team player with the ability to work effectively in all environments and at all levels of the company (including the JV partner - GE).
  • Assisting with the recruitment and training of staff, as well as monitoring staff performance and progress.
  • Basic understanding of compliance with federal and foreign regulations for the FAA.
  • Preparation and management of the department's annual budget relating to Parts manufacturing, Engineering, and Procurement.
  • Strong negotiation skills with suppliers.
