Title: Service Engineer


Reports to: Service Coordinator


Location: Technical Center (regional)


Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm


Classification: Non-Exempt


Travel: ~80%

Employment is subject to the organisation’s ability to obtain and maintain any necessary export licensing.


Role Overview

Service Engineers provide customers with maintenance, repair, and installation support for advanced CNC machine tools, either on-site or remotely by telephone.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide maintenance, repair, and installation assistance for CNC machine tools at customer locations or remotely.

  • Create and update documentation of technical information.

  • Develop, prepare, and analyze ongoing and ad-hoc service reports.

  • Work collaboratively with customer service teams, often alongside customer engineers.

  • Provide assistance and training to customer engineers on the installation and maintenance of newer product lines.

  • Establish and maintain strong communication and customer service relationships.

  • Manage challenging customer situations positively and respond promptly to customer needs.

  • Solicit customer feedback to improve service delivery.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in a technical field preferred.

  • 3–5 years of experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance of CNC machine tools.

  • Experience with machine tool brands and controls (e.g., Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Siemens) a strong plus.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer-focused mindset.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Proven ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and PLC ladder diagrams.

  • Basic computer literacy with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Adaptability to changing work environments, competing demands, and unexpected challenges.


Travel Requirements

  • Minimum of 50% travel within a multi-state region, via car or air depending on distance.

  • When not visiting customers, work is expected to be performed at the technical center.
