Position Summary

This role has ownership responsibility for the production processes. This person is responsible for improving Key Process Indicators (KPI’s) through the use of Continuous Improvement tools including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma practices.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each Essential Function satisfactorily. The items listed below are representative of these essential functions for this role and may not be a comprehensive list of duties, responsibilities, or expectations. 

1. Initiate and successfully complete projects resulting in the ongoing improvement of key KPI’s metrics related to Quality, Safety, Delivery and Cost while providing an exceptional return on investment.
2. Responsible for daily production support including the disposition of suspect material, initiating Engineering Change Requests for process changes, and participating in cross functional problem-solving teams when responding to Internal or External/Customer issues/concerns.
3. Develop and maintain the BOMs, process routings, and process rate information for assigned production parts.
4. Review and update production process documentation including operator work instructions, control plans, check sheets, flow charts and PFMEAs.
5. Initiates and manages projects related to the acquisition and installation of new production/process equipment. Provides training for other team members during the introduction of new production processes or equipment.
6. Develop production processes for product changes to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets are achieved or exceeded.
7. Actively work with New Product Launch Engineer in the development and transition of new parts.
8. Individuals directed by management to operate a vehicle for work purposes will observe the requirements of the Fleet Safety Program.
9. Support, promote, and perform in a manner consistent with continuous improvement goals and the values of DSB Technologies which includes following the policies, procedures, and requirements of our Quality Management and IS0 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
10. All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Required Preferred

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering – Mechanical or Industrial preferred, or a related technical field.

2 years of experience in Manufacturing/Process Engineering in a production environment.

Automotive production experience.

Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Previous experience with an ERP system.

Proven track record of accomplishments in the areas of continuous improvement (Lean/Six Sigma), product launches, capital equipment purchases, root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Job Summary:

As a Castheon Additive Manufacturing Applications Engineer you’ll be at the forefront of aerospace and additive manufacturing technologies. This role will have you front and center with our customers turning their ideas into reality. As one of your main responsibilities you’ll be expected to attend early-stage sales discussions to turn voice of customer into both well-defined requirements and proposals. You’ll also utilize your AM expertise and market leading software to optimize customer geometries for printability and performance. This includes developing support and compensation strategies striving for first-time printing success of the highest quality requirements. At Castheon you’ll be part of a rapidly growing world class engineering team, commonly interfacing internally with program managers, materials and process engineers, technicians, machinists, quality champions, and company leadership. This role reports to the Director of Materials and Manufacturing Technology.

Engineering Responsibilities:

• Research end users’ needs through communication with sales and directly with clients. In some cases, travel to trade shows and customer sites is required.
• Optimize part files to enhance printability, ease of post-processing, and or functionality.
• Create build layouts and files for a range of laser powder bed fusion printing equipment.
• Increase organizational competencies in AM process simulation, topology optimization, and generative design, executing software assessment and acquisitions.
• Develop support structure and machining plans for product realization utilizing both additive and subtractive methods.
• Works with CNC machining team to develop estimates for both full CNC and AM/CNC hybrid projects.
• Supports the quoting process and is responsible for producing build time, machining time, and other information required to assemble timely and accurate quotes.
• Actively participates in team problem solving, process improvement, and decisions.

• Lead internal efforts to enhance our quoting, design, or manufacturing workflows.
• Overtime you may be expected to mentor, teach, and be an engineering technical resource for the organization.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Previous Additive Manufacturing Experience
• High degree of proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, AM build file preparation, generative design, topology optimization, and/or process simulation.
• Experience with manufacturing /CNC machining processes
• Eligible to work in the United States without company sponsorship
